How eBay UK Fees Are Calculated
Final Value Fee (FVF) — the main eBay fee, charged as a percentage of the total sale amount (selling price + shipping charged to buyer). Rates vary by category:
- Most categories: 14.35% up to £2,500, then 2.5% above (no store)
- Electronics (phones, computers, consumer electronics): 9% up to £2,500, then 2.5%
- High-end computers: 7% up to £2,500, then 2.5%
- Guitars: 6.35% up to £2,500, then 2.5%
- Athletic clothing ≥£150 sold price: 8% flat (no transaction fee)
- Heavy machinery (business & industrial): 3% up to £15,000, then 0.5%
Transaction Fee — £0.30 per order (waived for high-value athletic clothing). Multiply by number of orders.
Top Rated Seller discount — Top Rated sellers receive a 10% discount off their FVF.
FVF Promotion — eBay occasionally offers promotional rates: a % discount off FVF, or a maximum FVF cap. Enter the discount % or max £ amount as offered by eBay.
International Fee — extra % when selling to overseas buyers:
- Germany, France, Italy, Other Eurozone & Northern Europe: +1.35%
- United States, Canada, All other countries: +1.65%
Promoted Listings — optional sponsored ad rate (%) charged on the total sale amount when the item sells via the ad.
Charity donation — if you donate a % of the final sale to charity, that amount is subtracted from your profit (eBay waives their FVF portion of donated sales).
Profit = Total Revenue − All eBay Fees − Item Cost − Shipping Paid. The margin % is profit as a share of total revenue.
