Top 10 Best Selling Items on eBay in 2026: Which Ones Can You Sell Without Stock?

Every list of the top 10 best selling items on eBay carries a quiet flaw: eBay never publishes an item-by-item ranking, so each list you have read is an editor's opinion. Most of them also skip the question a seller without inventory needs answered first, which is whether you can sell the item without holding stock at all. That matters when you are starting with a laptop and a supplier list instead of a garage full of boxes.
What eBay does publish is enough to build a smarter list. eBay Inc.'s Q2 2026 results show GMV of $22.4 billion, up 15%, with U.S. GMV up 24% to $11.7 billion and 136 million active buyers. On eBay's Q2 2026 earnings call, management said Focus Categories grew 26% and now make up more than 40% of GMV. Those signals point to a top 10 led by collectibles, motors and recommerce rather than the phone-case-and-sneakers lists you keep seeing. Below you get our ranking, a scorecard of which items work without stock, the fee math, and a three-step way to confirm demand before you spend a dollar. Start with the ranking.
What Are the Top 10 Best Selling Items on eBay in 2026?
The top 10 best selling items on eBay in 2026 are trading cards and collectibles, motors parts and accessories, refurbished electronics, phone and tablet accessories, sneakers and activewear, luxury fashion and watches, video games and consoles, home tools and small appliances, toys and pop-culture collectibles, and fragrance and vitamins. eBay reports growth by category rather than by SKU, so this ranks item groups, and because eBay does not rank those groups against each other, the order is our editorial judgment of overall demand, weighted by the strength of the evidence in the last column. Section 5 shows you how to verify demand item by item.

How Did We Rank the Top 10 Best Selling Items on eBay?
We ranked the top 10 best selling items on eBay by strength of evidence, starting with what eBay has to disclose to investors and ending with what it advises sellers.
-
Earnings disclosures. The Q2 2026 earnings call put Focus Categories, consumer-to-consumer and recommerce together above 70% of GMV, each growing more than 20%. The headline GMV, U.S. and buyer figures are also filed with the SEC in eBay's Form 8-K, which is the version to cite if you need a government source.
-
Seller guidance. The Seller Guide names the subcategories eBay itself calls high demand, from smartphone accessories to collectible toys.
-
Category rules. Requirements such as Authenticity Guarantee or refurbished-seller standards decide whether an item is realistic for a beginner, so they feed the scorecard in section 3 rather than the ranking.
The chart shows growth concentrated in Focus Categories and the U.S. marketplace, which is why this ranking follows category signals rather than individual products.

3. Which of the Top 10 Best Selling Items on eBay Can You Sell Without Stock?
Phone and tablet accessories and home tools and small appliances are the easiest fits, video games and consoles, motors parts, toys and fragrance are conditional, and trading cards, refurbished electronics, luxury goods and branded sneakers are poor fits because their value depends on authentication or seller status you cannot outsource. The scorecard is TS Scout's own editorial rating, not an eBay classification: it applies eBay's category rules, listed below, to a seller who holds no inventory.

The reason is policy. eBay's drop shipping policy allows fulfillment from a wholesale supplier, but listing an item and then buying it from another retailer or marketplace that ships to your customer is not allowed. You also stay responsible for delivery within the time frame stated in your listing and for the buyer's satisfaction. Ignore that and you are on the road to eBay Account Suspension, since the same policy lists removed listings, warnings, restricted activity and suspension as possible actions. Start with an evergreen product from a contracted wholesale supplier, and shortlist candidates among the Top eBay Suppliers before you sign anything.
Five category rules explain most of the low and conditional ratings:
-
Refurbished: the eBay Refurbished program requires Top Rated Seller status, at least 98% positive feedback, an item-not-as-described rate under 4% and an item-not-received rate under 1%, and Certified Refurbished listings also need a manufacturer purchase order or letter of authorization.
-
Sneakers and luxury fashion: eBay's Authenticity Guarantee for sneakers covers U.S.-located pairs priced at $75 or more, and the Q2 2026 results add that eBay extended Authenticity Guarantee to more than 100 fashion brands in the U.S. and U.K. Sneaker stock held outside the U.S. is not covered, so authenticity has to be proven with close-up photos of soles, logos and tags.
-
Motors parts: eBay's Guaranteed Fit program only works when fitment data and product identifiers are accurate, and your supplier has to provide both. Missing data hides listings in filtered searches, where ranking runs through what sellers call the eBay Cassini algorithm.
-
Apparel: sizing drives returns, so the Seller Guide asks for exact chest, waist, sleeve and inseam measurements plus photos from several angles, and vague measurements are among the Common eBay Listing Errors that invite returns.
-
Branded goods: selling unauthorized copies breaches eBay's counterfeit item policy, so close-up photos of tags and logos are your proof.
How Much Will You Keep From a Sale After eBay Fees?
On a $34 order (a $30 charger plus $4 buyer-paid shipping), eBay keeps about $5.02 in fees, and after an $18 supplier cost you keep $10.98 before advertising. Fees decide which of the top 10 best selling items on eBay is actually profitable. For most U.S. categories eBay charges a final value fee of 13.6% of the total sale amount up to $7,500, plus a per-order fee of $0.30 on orders of $10 or less and $0.40 above that. Rates differ by category, so confirm yours on eBay's seller fees page before pricing.
Here is the illustrative example behind that number, not a real store. Say your supplier charges $14 for the wireless charger and $4 to ship it:
|
Line |
Amount |
|
Buyer pays (item + shipping) |
$34.00 |
|
Final value fee (13.6% of $34) |
-$4.62 |
|
Per-order fee |
-$0.40 |
|
Supplier cost (item + shipping) |
-$18.00 |
|
Profit before ads |
$10.98 |
|
Promoted Listings at a 5% ad rate |
-$1.70 |
|
Profit with ads |
$9.28 |
The example leaves out sales tax, which eBay also includes in the fee base, and returns. A 5% ad rate takes about 15% of the profit here, so promote only items with room in the margin. Once volume grows, the eBay Store Benefits are worth modeling, since a Store subscription lowers final value fees in many categories. Listing on another eBay site converts your funds, and for U.S.-registered sellers eBay retains a 3% conversion charge, so price with eBay Currency conversion in mind.
How Do You Confirm Demand for a Top 10 Item Before You List It?
Confirm demand for any of the top 10 best selling items on eBay in three steps: check sold history, size the niche, then study the sellers already winning it.
-
Check sold history for free. In Seller Hub, go to Research and open Product research. eBay's Product Research help page confirms three years of sales data and notes that Sourcing insights requires a Basic Store subscription or higher. Sell-through rate only appears for searches covering items sold in the last 90 days. Many sellers still call this tool Terapeak, and knowing how to use Terapeak on eBay with the date-range, condition and seller-location filters keeps results specific to the exact item.
-
Size the niche. TS Scout's eBay Segment Insight uses Segment Insight to analyze product categories and market segments, giving niche-level data on demand, competition and growth potential. That answers a question sold history cannot: is the whole segment worth entering? The eBay niche finder method turns that output into a shortlist you can test against sold history.
-
Study the winners. TS Scout's Product Research tool returns seller names, titles, prices, marketplace locations and sales performance for a product name, and it can be filtered by price, marketplace and seller feedback, while eBay Competitors Research tool tracks any competitor store's performance, pricing and best-selling products.

What Can a No-Stock Seller Learn From eBay's Trading Card Boom?
Trading cards, number one in our ranking of the top 10 best selling items on eBay, show that eBay demand can be enormous and still be closed to sellers who cannot supply trust. That is the case study hiding in eBay's own numbers.
On the Q2 2026 earnings call, management said collectibles growth was led by trading cards, with strength across the major sports and collectible card game genres, from basketball cards during the NBA finals to soccer cards ahead of the World Cup. Around that demand, eBay built the trust layer itself, according to the Q2 2026 results: its AI card scanner passed 80 million cumulative scans, Card Ladder price indexes now enrich listings, Authenticity Guarantee expanded to U.K. trading cards valued above £500, and Goldin, an eBay company, sold a solo Michael Jordan card for $4.3 million.
Three lessons follow:
-
Demand is wide but not uniform. Coins, comics and sports memorabilia grew at double-digit rates in the U.S. too, yet the Q2 2026 earnings call also flagged that Pokémon growth is expected to slow in the second half as it laps triple-digit growth from last year.
-
Buyers pay for verification. Scanning, grading and authentication are where eBay is investing, and a seller without stock or grading expertise cannot compete on the cards themselves. Sellers who do hold scarce lots face a further choice, because eBay Auction vs. Buy It Now and the eBay Auction Tips that go with it shape how that verification premium gets priced.
-
The opening sits next to the product. Our read is that collectors also need protective supplies and display cases, but treat that as a hypothesis: test the Niche in Segment Insight for demand and competition before committing.
When Do These Top 10 Item Groups Sell Best?
Most of the top 10 best selling items on eBay sell on a calendar, and the table below turns the triggers named in the Seller Guide into dates you can plan against. Laying them over the eBay Seasonal Selling Calendar shows how far ahead of each peak a supplier needs to be confirmed.

Which Top 10 Item Will You Test First?
Pick one item group from the scorecard in section 3, not ten: a laptop and a supplier list are enough to run one test properly and not enough to run ten. Confirm its sold history, size its niche, study its sellers, and only then sign with a supplier. When the niche proves itself, your next moves are to Grow eBay Store and, if fees start to squeeze margins, to plan a move with Migrate Your eBay Store to Shopify.

FAQS
-
Can a new seller use eBay Live?
Yes, if you are an eligible U.S. seller. The Q2 2026 earnings call said self-service onboarding opened in July across more than 300 categories, ending the invite-only model, and the Q2 2026 results put eBay Live GMV growth at roughly eight times year over year. Established sellers who stream regularly saw a median GMV increase of about 3x compared with similar sellers who do not. Because sellers present items in real time, we see it as a later step for anyone who does not yet hold products.
-
Does eBay charge a fee on sales tax?
Yes. The final value fee applies to the total amount of the sale, which includes the item price, handling charges, shipping collected from the buyer, sales tax and other applicable fees. In eBay's own example on eBay's seller fees page, a $400 item with 6% sales tax becomes a $424 fee base, so the 13.6% fee applies to $424, not $400.
-
Which of the top 10 best selling items on eBay carry different fee rates?
Several do. Per eBay's seller fees page, sports and non-sport trading cards, comic books and collectible card games carry 13.25% up to $7,500, women's handbags carry 15% up to $2,000 and 9% above, and athletic shoes sold for $150 or more carry 8% with no per-order fee. Check your category's rate before you price.
-
What changed for U.K. sellers in Q2 2026 beyond trading cards?
The Q2 2026 results confirm Easy and Free Returns for Motors parts in the U.K., and the Q2 2026 earnings call said eBay International Shipping would launch in the U.K. in August, opening more than 190 countries to eligible sellers. Buyers also get a pickup and drop-off network of roughly 50,000 lockers and parcel shops through InPost and Royal Mail, with 95% of U.K. buyers living within 1 km of one.
-
How common are Promoted Listings among eBay sellers?
Very common. According to the Q2 2026 earnings call, 5.7 million sellers adopted at least one promoted listing product in the quarter, and the Q2 2026 results show advertising revenue of $596 million, about 2.7% of GMV. That makes ad cost a normal line in a margin model rather than an optional extra.
